Small Business Optimism, Buffet’s Bet on Trucking, and Exploiting Equifax’s Data Fiasco

Small Business Owners Take Over The Wheel

Despite all the gridlock in congress and uncertainty over healthcare and taxes, small businesses have positive outlooks and are actually planning to invest and expand. The National Federation of Independent Businesses did a survey and found that 32% businesses are planning capital expenditures in the next 3-6 months which is the highest percentage since 2006.

Warren Buffet Trying To Spend Berkshire Hathaway’s $100-Billion-Dollar Cash Hoard

Warren buffet just invested an undisclosed amount of money for 38.6% into Pilot Flying J, the largest Truck stop operator and plans to boost this ownership to 80% by 2023. A company with 750 locations in 44 states and Canada with over 19 billion dollars in annual sales. Trucks will be around for a very long time and if Warren Buffet is investing into a company there is a good chance there will be even more in the future. Pilot Flying J owned by Jimmy Haslem also owner of the Cleveland Browns will retain his 50.1% ownership stake and his management team will stay on board while the Magglet Family Management team will retain their 11.3% stake.  Warren Buffet has consistently been able to make good bets and he is betting on the US Economy to remain strong with consistent growth.

Nowhere To Turn

The data breach of Equifax left over 143 million consumers feeling exposed and were advised to freeze their credit to prevent potential further identity theft and damage to their credit. Hackers are taking advantage of this crisis by targeting those who are seeking help by creating fake, albeit realistic-looking, sites like equifaxsecurity2017.com. This knockoff was so convincing even one Equifax representative started directing help seekers there via twitter.

Best course of action is to look up a main number for that institution and call directly. Fluid Business Resources also partners with ID Notify to help our clients monitor credit and protect their identities from theft.
